Fragile Vortex | Copper Limited Edition Art by EVOLAS

Fragile Vortex

Edition of 5

Status: Available

Fragile Vortex is presented through two complementary principal states.

Both originate from the same physical structure and depict the same microscopic scene.

The difference arises solely from a shift in optical focus, revealing different material relationships within the glass.

State II

Material on this GLOBE: Copper

Laser pulses contributing to this GLOBE: 5

Maximum Laser Power: 16 kW

Material visible in this motif: Copper

Fragile Vortex is presented through two complementary visual states of the same unchanged physical formation. Both originate from the central region of Pulse 2 within GLOBE 5 and depict the same copper structure; only the optical focus shifts, revealing different layers and relationships within the glass.

In State I, the focus emphasizes the outer ring, the surrounding fracture structures, and the dense halo of deposited copper. The central region appears more recessed, creating a strong inward visual pull and a pronounced sense of tension between the enclosing boundary and the deeper interior.

In State II, the focus moves toward the inner layers of the formation. Fine fracture networks, translucent partitions, and a brighter cellular structure become visible within the same physical configuration. Nothing has been altered or reconstructed; the difference between the two states results solely from the position of the focal plane during microscopic observation.

The motif originated during the creation of GLOBE 5 through a sequence of five high-energy laser pulses using copper. Within the selected region, deposited material, fracture structures, altered optical zones, and transmitted and reflected light combine to produce a visually layered formation whose depth cannot be captured fully in a single focal state.

As the principal motif selected from GLOBE 5, Fragile Vortex reveals one of the most structurally concentrated regions within a much larger preserved material field. Additional curated motifs from the same GLOBE explore neighboring pulse centers, overlap zones, and peripheral deposition areas shaped by the same sequence of laser pulses.

Within architectural environments, the two states create a distinctive spatial dialogue. Presented together, they allow the viewer to compare two optical readings of the same physical structure; shown individually, each retains a strong visual center and a clear sense of inward movement. Their cool blue palette, circular organization, and layered depth enable the works to function convincingly in open gallery settings as well as contemporary corporate interiors, where they introduce focus, rhythm, and quiet visual intensity.
